Ste Marie du Castel church has three choirs as follows –
This is for children in school year 3 through to year 6. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 6.15 p.m. until 7 p.m. and this is followed by a Choir Club which meets in the church hall from 7 p.m. A wide range of music is tackled with the accent always being on fun and enjoyment. Club time is purely social and during it the children play organized games or do craft. Club lasts until 8 p.m. but attendance is not compulsory and parents are free to take children home before 8 p.m. if they wish.
Junior Choir sings at the family service on the first Sunday of the month and, if possible, at the family communion on the third Sunday.
This choir is for youngsters in school year 7 and upwards. It rehearses on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. and there is then a Club time. The choir sings at the services on the first and third Sundays as for Junior Choir.
Most of the young people in Intermediate Choir have come up through Junior Choir and this older choir gives them a chance to build on singing expertise so far gained and to tackle an even wider and more challenging range of music.
This is the adult choir which sings at most Sunday morning services. It does not currently have a set weekly rehearsal time with items being rehearsed by arrangement and as required.
This takes place on the first Sunday of each month. It is a very varied and interactive service based on a specific theme. The spoken word, music and audio-visual aids are all employed to the full in both worship and teaching. The service is especially suitable for young people and for anyone who wishes to learn more about the basics of the Christian faith.
